WiFi is the industry name for Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) communications technology that uses radio waves to provide wireless high-speed Internet and network connections.
A WiFi hotspot is a physical location that offers Internet access over a wireless local area network (WLAN) through the use of a router connected to an Internet service provider. Hotspots typically use Wi-Fi technology.
“ipNX WiFi” is the subscription-based public WiFi service from ipNX Nigeria Limited that uses Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) communications technology to provide reliable, high-speed, and always-available wireless broadband Internet access to users in public places at very affordable prices for a specific period of time and data allowance.
Once customers sign-up to the service, they will be able to use any of the ipNX Internet hotspots across a metropolis to gain access to the Internet on their mobile devices (Laptops, Tablets, and Smart Phones). They can also move seamlessly from one Internet hotspot powered by ipNX to another.
To allow your device to find a hotspot, make sure that WiFi is switched “ON” on your device. Also, the capabilities of your device may affect the ease of the connection process.
The best way to know if you are in range is to check if the “ipNX WiFi” SSID comes up on the list of available networks on your device. On average, hotspot coverage is about 50 to 80 metres, but will vary depending on the type of hardware, number of people using the hotspots, obstructions e.t.c.
If your device can access the mobile network, look for the WiFi symbol on your screen. If you are connected to WiFi, this will display the corresponding WiFi logo or icon.
Oh yes, you can. Customers who endeavour to submit their Know-Your-Customer (KYC) documents like Passport photos and valid means of identification i.e. Driver’s License, National I.D. Card, Int’l Passport, will enjoy some form of discounts.
There would also be occasional hotspot-location based promos and discounts applied on the WiFi service.
Simply make payment.
The validity period for using the service is based on either the number of days or the data allowance of the respective service plans that you subscribe to, whichever comes first.
As soon as the data allowance for number of days you paid for is used up, you will lose your connection to the service.

To sign-up for ipNX WiFi:
- Visit ipNX WiFi Website or ipNX office/Re-seller at an ipNX WiFi hotspot location
- Fill the Customer Subscription Form containing the following fields: Name, Phone, and E-mail
- Accept “Terms and Conditions of Service” on the Sign-Up form
- Select a service plan
- Make payment
- Receive your login credentials i.e. Username and Password, to the phone number and E-mail address specified on the Sign-Up form
- Walk into an ipNX WiFi hotspot
- Discover ipNX WiFi SSID and connect
- Enter your login credentials i.e. Username and Password
- Start using the service
- Go to your browser and select a new page and browse to any Website of your choosing
- You should be prompted to login to the ipNX WiFi system via an ipNX Captive portal page
- If you can’t see the ipNX Captive portal page, try to confirm that you are connected to the ‘ipNX WiFi’ SSID
- Make sure wireless is enabled on your device
- Refresh the list of available networks

- Present your ATM card.
- Select a service plan.
- Make payment.
- Receive your login credentials i.e. Username and Password to the phone number specified on the Sign-Up form and via E-mail to the address provided.
ipNX WiFi offers the same speed on the ipNX Fiber-To-The-Home (FTTH) network i.e. speeds of at least 10 times faster than 3G, WiMAX-4G or DSL and guaranteed speeds starting from 10 Megabits per second (10 Mbps).
However, data speeds are completely dependent upon other various factors e.g. how many concurrent users are accessing the same hotspot (Access Point) at the same time, how close you are to the hotspot and the capabilities of your device. Some hotspots regions could have faster broadband access than others, so top speeds will vary by location.
Simply select a new service plan when making payment. By selecting a different service plan, you cosent to forfeit whatever data is remaining on the current service plan.
Simply login to ipNX WiFi captive portal page with login credentials (i.e. Username and Password) or login to ipNX WiFi Website Self-Service portal, click on View Data Usage Balance. Data Usage Summary Report will be displayed on the screen.
