Our Network infrastructure was recently
upgraded across both the metropolitan and Long
distance service networks. On the radio side, we
migrated platforms to a new OFDM-technology
based product from our partners Alvarion of
Israel and on the VSAT side we migrated
platforms to Vipersat a product from our
partners Comtech Vipersat networks.
We also extensively expanded our Points of
presence in Lagos to strategic business areas –
making us now capable of giving our customers
service coverage in 99% of the Lagos area. The
Points of Presence in Abuja and Yenagoa were
commissioned last year and our Port Harcourt POP
extensively upgraded to guarantee our trademark
high-speed technology backbones across these
metropolitan area networks.
A key value add to our long distance customers
from the migration to Vipersat (aside from
significantly lower costs of establishment and
service) is the new capability to ‘pool’
bandwidth between several locations enabling
better bandwidth optimization across customer
networks.
Our expanded Network Operating Centre has been
equipped with better technology to enhance
network monitoring and support. The team has
focused its efforts on ensuring higher
availability levels and proactive network
engineering. This is demonstrated by our new
On-line monitoring tool that is now available to
all users of the network at no additional cost.
