| Phase 3 Telecoms stakes $100m |
Newly licensed long distance communications operator, Phase 3 Telecoms, is set to boost telecommunications infrastructure in the country by injecting $100 million in the construction of its nationwide fibre optic infrastructure.

| Telecoms firm pays NCC N342m unified license fee |
Fourteen days after it was awarded the unified telecommunications license, Prest Cable and Satellite Communication (Prestel) yesterday paid $2.7 million (N342 million) as licence fees to the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).
Prestel was one of the four companies that made the first list of licences released by the NCC two weeks ago.
The others are Multilinks Telecommunications Limited, Intercellular Nigeria Plc and Starcomms Limited.
Although the companies have about 30 days to pay the fees, Prestel became the first company to provide the licence fees, which empowers it to operate long distance services, full international gateway, broadband internet and fixed and wireless lines services across the country.
